Preventative Action

Through recent legislative changes, telematic systems are becoming more proficient in the remote, real time monitoring of vehicle performance. This is predominantly on heavier vehicles where the on-board electronic control unit can be interfaced through CANbus technology (Controller Area Network (CAN or CAN-bus) is a computer network protocol designed to allow microcontrollers and devices to communicate with each other without a host computer).

This technology can allow Faamco to monitor real time performance and receive pre-determined alerts forewarning of potential mechanical incidents before they actually occur. Through system generated communication tools, the driver and operator can be informed and instructed to take appropriate action in order to minimise costs and downtime.

In addition, it also allows for the real time monitoring of fuel usage, which allows for continuous, real time reporting by vehicle.
